Anayo Awuzie, the multi-hyphenate creative marketer who founded Carefree Magazine, has learned that every pivot, plot twist and detour is fertile ground for the most fruitful seasons of our lives. Anayo founded Carefree Magazine after working in media and realizing how rarely Black women's first-person narratives were being treated with the respect we deserve. Fresh off headlining two panels at Essence Fest 2026, she's currently embarking on an international book tour as editor of Black Women in Bloom, a coffee table book with over 30 personal essays from Black women across the diaspora sharing testimonies of healing, identity, and everyday life.
